My name is Melissa Beverlin, I have lived in Las Vegas since 1978. I have been using cab service in the city for the past five years. Prior to that I used Paratransit, and once I was able to afford taxi cabs, I was kind of thrilled. I had a lot of problems with Paratransit, one of which was a constant backache. When I started using taxi cabs, their service was rocky at first. They would send out the wrong type of cabs, I need a wheelchair accessible cab, and they would send out normal cabs. And the wait times were too long, but once they split the city into two, I began getting better service on the west side of town. The east side, on the other side of I-15, is still unreliable and I can’t count on them. The longest I have ever had to wait for a taxi was about four hours, and I finally was able to wake my brother up and he came and picked me up. The taxi they claimed was on its way never showed up.
