My name is Rick Kuhmley, I have been a resident of Las Vegas since 1971. I am legally blind, and transportation is one of the most critical needs for people that are visually impaired. Living on the East side, near Eastern and Owens, it has gotten more and more difficult to get a taxi to come pick me up over the years. It has gotten to the point where it is faster to walk to where I need to go, rather than wait four hours for them to come pick me up. I also find that when I use my cane, that drivers tend to take the long way around to boost the fare up. I think the Taxicab Authority should either hire or contract with handicapped individuals to ride in the cabs and record their experiences.
